About Us
During the previous several years, the culture and ministries of the St.James community have been refocusing on learning to grow as disciples of Christ and putting our faith into action through service to our community and beyond. In the previous 12 months, this focus has been strengthened in the leadership of St. James, and church council has begun the process of modifiying documents such as the mission statement and committee/team descriptions to reflect these changes. We are hopeful that these changes will be approved at our next annual meeting in January 2010.
Draft Vision Statement December 2009
We belong to Christ. Our faith in this truth shapes our lives and makes us noticeably different from the culture around us. Our faith in action is reflected in our priorities and values:
- Worship is central to our life
- We are committed to growing as disciples of Jesus Christ.
- We understand and profess what it means to be Lutheran.
- Our faith - nourished in worship - is expressed as a deep and personal connection with the needs of our community.
- Our ministries are led by empowered laypersons who fully understand that their ministry is a visible sign of God's love in this world.
- Welcoming hospitality and generous stewardship are outward signs of the love we feel for our church home and ministries.
